18th MEDICAL FAIR INDIA from 2 – 4 March 2012 in Mumbai: Rise in exhibitor numbers already evident
The organisers Messe Düsseldorf and Messe Düsseldorf India already had every reason to be pleased in 2011, as the MEDICAL FAIR INDIA is going from strength to strength. Between 2009 and 2011 alone, the number of exhibitors rose from 185 to 261, while the number of visitors rose from 5227 to 5910, and a further rise in the number of exhibitors is anticipated for 2012, too.
The reason for this success is, on the one hand, the close cooperation with MEDICA, the world’s leading international trade fair for medical products, which made it possible to open up and enter into dialogue with other key target groups for the Indian market. The second reason is the booming Indian economy. Alongside China, India currently has the strongest economic growth of all of the BRIC states. The Indian health sector, in particular, is one of the fastest growing service sectors and, according to the German-Indian Chamber of Commerce, already contributes some six percent towards the gross domestic product. The anticipated increase in the Indian population, which is predicted to rise to 1.6 billion by 2050, will also result in further expansion in the Indian health sector: An ideal situation for the exhibitors at MEDICAL FAIR INDIA. The fair, which alternates annually between Mumbai and Delhi, is the ideal platform to meet the “Who’s Who” of the sector, to discuss and seal new deals. About 60% of the exhibitors come from countries such as France, Belgium, Malaysia, Taiwan, Korea, the USA and Germany. This is also the first time that the organisers look forward to welcoming exhibitors from Japan and Finland.
New in 2012: The range of topics covered at MEDICAL FAIR INDIA has been expanded to include “Rehabilitation” and “Components”
The fair is supported by the very active Indian associations such as AIMED (Association of Indian Medicals Device Industry), IAPMR (Indian Association of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation) and, at the international level, by institutions such as MREPC (Malaysian Rubber Export Promotion Council), CCCMHPIE (China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Medicines & Health Products), KMDICA (Korea Medical Devices Industrial Cooperation Association), Ubi France, SAMD (Shenzhen Association of Medical Devices), Spectaris, GHE (German Health Care Export Group) and the ZVEI (Zentralverband Elektrotechnik und Elektroindustrie e.V.). Cooperative ventures with Indian hospitals such as Fortis and Apollo Hospitals have also already been confirmed.
Discussion between industry insiders rounds off the accompanying program. On 2 and 3 March 2012, the organisers invite experts to debate topics such as “the Indian Medical Device Industry: Towards Global Leadership” and “India emerging through competitiveness, Technology and Innovation”. The exhibition and conferences taking place simultaneously at the same place not only result in a topical symbiosis for participants, but also promise great time savings.
